Tom Murawski
“Close to revolutionary,” says The New York Times of this national leader in writing improvement. Less-sober newspapers have dubbed him “Professor Fun.” For his White House efforts to improve government writing, Tom was runner-up in 1984 to television reporter Ted Koppel for the George Orwell Award, which honors distinguished contribution to honesty and clarity in public language.
Since then Tom has traveled the country as a consultant to teach corporate and government writers—because there’s nothing like writing that’s clear, complete, concise, and convincing . . . and nothing like writing that isn’t. His extensive work with regulators led to his writing the federal guidelines for clear regulations, which he has amplified into a book.

He also brings his knowledge of scholarly research into readability, emphasizing techniques proven to send a clear message in a single, rapid reading.
Jim serves as a reviewer and editor for scholarly and commercial publications, and he has published books and press releases on topics ranging from eighteenth-century poetry to national defense policy. During his Air Force career, he taught for 11 years at the Air Force Academy and for 3 years at the National Defense University.

Perry Luckett
Since 1979, Perry has taught writing and reading techniques to thousands of people in finance, health, and engineering. As a working writer and editor, he has edited 17 books in electrical, mechanical, and astronautical engineering, including six in NASA’s space-technology series.
Perry also leads agencies and companies through major writing projects. For example, he was the only civilian consultant to the Air Force team that overhauled 95,000 pages of regulations and manuals. He wrote the project plan, managed a dozen contract editors, and taught regulatory writing to Air Force writers from across the country. Vice President Gore cited this overhaul, which saved more than $11 million a year, as a model for government re-engineering.

Carolyn Sherman
Carolyn Sherman is our expert on making powerful presentations. She has helped clients across the country—among them economists at the White House, engineers at NASA, and ballistics experts at the Missile Defense Agency—to translate highly technical data into presentations that persuade and energize.
As a presenter herself, Carolyn understands the fears, challenges, and satisfactions that go with the territory. When not in the classroom, she speaks on topics ranging from city planning to preserving native plant species in stormwater ponds. Her talent lies in enabling the people in her classes to unlock their unique potential, form a strong connection with their audience, and give the powerful presentations no one but they can give.
